Sweet Sunday – All the Cats Join In

If music be the food of love, play on.

I have decided that from now on, Sunday posts will be made sweeter with the addition of music. Each Sunday1, a music video or piece of music that Cooler Becky is currently listening to will be put up.

This week, we kick off this segment of “My Life, Only That Much Cooler” with All the Cats Join In, a Disney short made in 1946 as part of the Make Mine Music, one of Disney’s packaged feature films produced during the Second World War.

The music for All the Cats Join In was performed by King of Swing Benny Goodman and was animated by Fred Moore, the man behind the female centaurs in the famous Rite of Spring sequence in Fantasia.

Fred Moore was well-known around the Disney studio for his drawings of innocently sexy nude women. In fact, he personally animated the sequence of the girl from the telephone to the point where she puts lipstick on in front of the mirror (1:09 to 2:03).

The song and sequence never fails to get Cooler Becky’s feet tapping. Although, she does somewhat emphatise with the girl in the sailor suit (2:55).

1Give or take a few Sundays, of course.
