Crazy Sexy Lyrics

As you know, or do not know, but now you know… I love to listen to all sorts of music – provided the lyrics are good or if it’s instrumental, the tunes are catchy. SO! For all of you in the know and not in the know, without further ado, I present to you… today’s post. (Brought to you by music on the Internets.)

DrHorribleFirst up, we have Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog. Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog is a musical written and directed by the venerable Joss Whedon, during the 2007 Writers’ Guild of America strike. Titular aspiring supervillain, Dr Horrible, wants to join the Evil League of Evil and take over the world in order to improve the quality of human life (and impress his longtime crush and “laundromat buddy”, Penny.) However, there’s just one thing in his way, the annoying “do-gooder”, Captain Hammer.

Now, if you haven’t gone to download/buy this little movie off iTunes, I suggest that you do it right now because this musical is not only thought provoking, but also contains both catchy tunes AND great lyrics, giving it two thumbs up in my book! Heck, every time I listen to Brand New Day, I am get the urge to go outside, grow to the size of Godzilla and stomp on cars and people. That’s not to say that I’m not commonly tempted to grow to the size of Godzilla and stomp on cars everyday, it’s just that the song is so inspiring.

You can take a look at Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog at the official website – http://www.drhorrible.com/. Apparently, it’s also available on Hulu, but that’s only in the United States (Darn, these Americans always get the bestest stuff. It’s not fair.) There’s a sequel in the works as well, or So They Say.

Next up, we have the FuMP. The FuMP stands for the Funny Music Project. The FuMP was apparently started by a bunch of Filkers (or funny music writing people) who just wanted a place to share their latest funny music with other people and inspire other people to write funny music, thus perpetuating a cycle in which funny music is made.

The FuMP posts a new song up every Tuesday and Thursday and while most of these songs are enormously hilarious, they do occasionally have the odd mediocre piece. Still, most of the lyrics are pretty good and the songs are downloadable free on the day they’re posted, or for a nominal fee, you can get 20 songs on a CD. (It rhymes!) Anyway, it’s worth checking out, so I’m gonna give you the link now and you can click on it and look at The FuMP site, mmkay? Here you go… http://www.thefump.com.

Finally, a short conversation on music and the dangers thereof. This takes place, most unfortunately, just before an interview I had last week. The interviewer was making me wait, so I was stuck in a room by myself…

Me: *Humming* Mmhmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm *Imagine this is tuneful humming because the recording device on my computer is borken and I don’t have very good recording programs anyway*
Interviewer: *Just entering the room* Hello!
Me: Oh hello! Pleased to meet you! I’m Becky.
Interviewer: I’m Chris. Pleased to meet you. What was that song you were singing? Is it a lullaby?
Me: Not really… I uh… wouldn’t sing it to my kids…
Interviewer: It sounds very familiar. What is it called?
Me: Uh… Only Women Bleed by Alice Cooper. It’s been stuck in my head since this morning.
Interviewer: Oh… that’s a nice song anyway… It reminds me of my childhood.

Oddly enough, despite my odd musical tastes, I still got shortlisted for the position. I really don’t want to know what my interviewer’s childhood was like if that song in particular reminded her of childhood.

One name in this post has been changed to protect the identity of the person. I don’t think it’s difficult to guess which name. If you guess Becky or Joss Whedon, you fail.
